This photo appeared in the October 31, 1894 edition of the Hoquiam Washingtonian, summed up as follows:

 

One week ago Sunday, the members of the Aberdeen and Cosmopolis bicycle club came down to Hoquiam. Here they were joined by the Hoquiam club and gathered on the steps of the Hoquiam Hotel where J.O. Stearns took a view of them. With the wheels in front and the riders arranged on the steps it made a pleasant effect to which Mr. Stearns did credit.
