Those in the Mile High like to talk the talk but the city gov and the general population refuse to take any legitimate action to truly make Denver safe or friendly for cyclists. Our streets are horribly maintained, it feels like you need a full suspension mountain bike just to get across town. Weekend warriors abound, but there is no discernible cyclist comradery or culture on the streets. Critical Mass rides are absolutely pitiful. In all too many ways, Denver is little more than a wannabe-cosmopolitan-cowtown full of fair-weather participants, most of whom come from someplace else. Maybe someday my hometown will shape up for real...every day is "bike to {everywhere} day" for me.
