I lived right next to my corner store in San Francisco for a while. Sketchy place: torturous sounds from their cellar, mean pit bulls and even the owner's teenage son being kidnapped at one point. He returned but stopped working there. Anyway, it burned down along with the apartment I lived in (about a month after I moved) and was rebuilt as small, ugly and expensive condos.
