a 1x client asked me if I rode my work bike for political or environmental reasons. No was my reply. He looked baffled and when I worked to clarify it quickly occurred to me that no matter how much I talked, and I already talk too much, it would never get across so I found the easiest universally understood reply , “long ago I worked as a bike messenger for a bit” While I am sure he didn’t understand the rationale by his continued perplexed look he was pretty clear on understanding what a bike messenger was. Everyone wants my job on days like this and it’s never for political or environmental reasons.
